Cramp Bark

Cramp Bark

Often mom gets forgotten by the excitement of the new baby, this is why we are working on a package just for mama! We are very excited to introduce this herb to you guys.

Ladies this ones for you: Viburnum Opulus aka Cramp bark and what we like to call a girls best friend. Check out the snow ball like flowers on this beauty! In time these flowers ripen into clusters of red berries. While the berries can be eaten as is, the bark is often used in traditional European herbalism for its wellness supporting properties. The bark can be decocted, infused, or made into an extract.

In Native American healing traditions, cramp bark was utilized for women’s issues and its astringent properties. Cramp bark's name comes from its use as a pain treatment for cramps, particularly menstrual cramps. Some research indicates that cramp bark help relax muscles and blood vessels, which can relieve pain and reduce blood pressure. Some research indicates it may help prevent kidney stones as well as to help treat insomnia, anxiety, and cancer.

Cramp bark can alleviate muscle pain either from uterine cramps or from pushing a baby out, allowing new moms to rest and recover. It’s known that with each birth the cramps can get stronger and stronger, this is why we include cramp bark in the postpartum package.  A perfect herb for menstrual cramps as well.
